Mission Trip

High School Mission trip to Pittsburgh, PA
is now rescheduled for 2021

The Pittsburgh area is home to many neighboring communities including New Kensington, Lower Burrell and Natrona Heights. Many people in New Kensington live below the poverty level, and struggle to make ends meet week-to-week. Some of the biggest needs include providing meals, clothing, and personal supplies for families.

Senior Mission Trip 2019

Wind River, WY - June 20 - 30th

I am so excited to be leading a trip with your youth for the second year! This trip is going to be great. The goal for these trips is to put our youth in a new and semi uncomfortable situation where they can grow, be challenged, and experience something brand new to them. We have a wonderful line up of vibrant volunteers to help me lead this trip and I look forward to sharing and discussing more information with you as we go about this semester of ministry. I thank you for the opportunity and cannot wait to see what God has in store for all of us in the beautiful Wind River, Wyoming.

ABOUT WIND RIVER, WY
Your group will serve by painting and weatherizing homes in partnership with tribal housing authorities, running Kids Club programming for local children, and spending time with elderly residents. Groups will get to hear stories from community members, visit beautiful Sinks Canyon State Park and see the Eagle Spirit Dancers perform traditional native dances. You’ll also get the opportunity to participate in a community cookout. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 1998.

SERVING IN WIND RIVER

•Serve through painting, cleaning, yard work or other simple work projects.
•Plan and lead kids programming for children in the community, including Bible lessons, games, crafts and reading.
•Students will have the opportunity to participate with each of the above service sites during the week.

COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE
Beauty and pain… Even the most seasoned traveler can be overwhelmed by both in the Native American community. You will probably encounter evidence of a people group and culture that have been systematically oppressed for over 200 years. However, you will also encounter men, women and children who are passionate about their culture, their sense of identity and their grasp of the relationships with the space around them. You will be overwhelmed by the beauty of the landscape and humbled by those who are willing to share their culture and history with you.

week of hope group missions
group missions trips

Grand Rapids, MN - June 16-23, 2018

Spending a week in Grand Rapids will remind you of why Michigan is called the Great Lake State. The city sits on the Grand River and is only 25 miles east of Lake Michigan. Home of the internationally renowned Art Prize, the community is rich in art and culture with sculptures and museums throughout the city. Grand Rapids offers a big city feeling with the warmth of a small town.

Even though it’s easy to see the beauty of Grand Rapids, the city did not survive the nation’s recession untouched. Living in one of the cities hit hardest by the economic problems, the people of Grand Rapids have struggled through failed industries and unemployment.

Your group might have the opportunity to serve with one of our partners that exists to serve the hungry and homeless in Grand Rapids. With help from volunteers like you, this organization is able to provide more than 200 people beds every night, more than 500 hot meals per day, almost 800,000 pounds of donated food to their food programs, and much more.

As Our Youth enter into the lives of others and build relationships with the people of Grand Rapids, They'll experience God working through them at projects such as:

  • Assist a neighborhood by landscaping, painting, cleaning, clearing alleys, working with residents that are shut-ins(seniors that are ill or recovering). and low income persons/families.

  • Serve at an assisted living facility doing yard work (mulching, weeding, panting flowers), playing games and visiting with residents.

  • Build relationships with kids in the community by playing indoor and outdoor games, making rafts and going on afternoon off site field trips together.

  • Learn about and help a local non-profit dissembling computers, painting walls, helping stock and clean electronics.

  • Help the hungry and homeless by sorting donated food products, repackaging food, and serving meal at the local food pantry.
