Serve in the Community
Homeless Meal
Each year, our church provides six evening meals for the Men’s Homeless Shelter at the Grace Episcopal Church in Madison. Meals are planned, cooked, and served for the first Wednesday of the even numbered months. We also send the food needed for the following morning breakfast.
We have been part of this mission for 19 years. More than 50 area groups are involved in providing meals for the shelter. Our church plans each meal a month ahead of the serving date. Volunteers prepare each meal and travel to Madison to serve the meal. In a joint effort with other area groups, our congregation helps to serve the needs of the homeless men in Madison.
A sign-up is posted for needed ingredients, and church members give generously. Those who participate enjoy the fellowship of working together to do God’s work.

Community Meal
The Community Meal is held every 3rd Wednesday of each month at the EMS Building in Lake Mills from 5pm-7pm.
Six churches, including the Methodist Church, are involved with preparing, serving, and clean-up.
There is no charge for this meal, however, many give a free-will offering, in which the money goes towards the cost of food, paper supplies, and drinks. Everyone is welcome to partake in this meal.

Reaching Out Respite
Nineteen years ago, Reaching Out Respite began as a way to provide a safe environment for a loved ones while their caregiver is given a break from full-time care giving.
Reaching Out meets each Wednesday from 9:30am to 3:30pm at the Lake Mills United Methodist Church.
Reaching Out provides a one-on-one volunteer system and there is a nurse on site to help with medication and toileting if needed. Activities during the day include snacks, music, arts and crafts, games, exercise and reminiscing.
Volunteers can spend as little as three hours a month in the program. For information about becoming a guest or volunteer, contact Jane Harberg at (920)648-5019.
