A Message From Pastor Seongmin

July 2022

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind
and your neighbor as yourself.”

During the pandemic, disconnection and loneliness surrounded us. We were not even able to greet each other properly, and couldn’t meet our parents, grandparents, children, nor grandchildren.  Although we met people, there was not much intimacy or familiarity, and it was difficult to build any real and deep human relationships. The pandemic has alienated the sick and the weak with fear and concern for contagion to people all over the world. Education and programs for children and youth were limited. We have had a lot of difficulty in expressing our love for our neighbors and even God.

Now, we have reopened our schools, and we are able to see the unveiled smiles of many people. But the fear and disconnection that have dominated us over the past two years limit the sharing of our love with God and our neighbors.

The Bible scripture above reminds us once again of the call to Christians. The love for God and neighbor is a journey of faith that we must continue to walk. How will you respond to Jesus’ call to love your God and your neighbor? The sharing of love that Jesus taught us begins with a brief moment of decision to stop and think about those who are marginalized, hurt, and in pain in our busy daily lives.
