Ash Wednesday marks the first day of the Lenten season. This is a time to prepare our hearts to encounter the glory and promise of Easter by setting time apart for self-reflection, repentance, prayer and fasting. During this season we acknowledge the reality of the human condition: that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Thus, we turn our lives to the Lord and to turn away from all those things which have harmed us and others. We also stand in solidarity as fellow creatures before our God, acutely aware of our mortality. In the midst of busy schedules and a chaotic world, I invite you to more deeply engage this holy season. We will gather in the Hearth Room at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 26th, to begin our observance of the Lenten season.
