AUGUST 17TH AT 10AM - St. Paul UMC, Steven's Point, WI
Join us as we launch a churchwide breakthrough prayer initiative to unite our congregation in praying consistently for God to work in new and miraculous ways. This initiative will shift our focus from inward to up-and-outward, fueling an atmosphere of possibility and making spiritual history in our community and beyond through our future ministry. This workshop will equip us with practical examples and ideas on how to integrate breakthrough prayer into the daily life of our congregation. We will also explore how to incorporate breakthrough prayer into our weekly worship service and develop our church’s outreach to our neighborhood.
All members and our entire congregation are encouraged to attend this event. We will organize carpools for those who need a ride. Registration forms are available in the narthex, or you can follow this link here:
Scottish Bible teacher and missionary Oswald Chambers articulated this profound truth:
“Prayer is not a normal part of the life of the natural man. We hear it said that a person’s life will suffer if he doesn’t pray, but I question that. What will suffer is the life of the Son of God in him, which is nourished not by food, but by prayer. When a person is born again from above, the life of the Son of God is born in him, and he can either starve or nourish that life. Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished.”
“If I have received Christ as Savior and Lord, scripture says that the new life of Christ lives within me. Just as food on the dinner table nourishes the life of my physical body, Chambers has pointed out that prayer is the spiritual food that nourishes the life of Christ now alive in me. So I get to choose—will I starve the life of Christ in me, or feed it?”
The New Testament refers to the church as the body of Christ. Lake Mills UMC is seeking new growth and vision within God’s will through Breakthrough Prayer. Our goal is to fill and nourish our spiritual community, the body of Christ, with prayer. Participants in the Breakthrough Prayer workshop will create a prayer that the entire congregation will then pray together during worship services, meetings, and in their daily lives. This unity in prayer will help us focus on our visioning journey and be united as one body of Christ.
In order to create a prayer guide that includes everyone’s languages, thoughts, hopes, and feelings, we will gather our individual prayer languages through a post-it activity. Your participation in the post-it activity and the Breakthrough Prayer workshop is very important.
